NEWS | Welcome Luis Johnson

The Dons are delighted to announce the signing of former-Betfred Super League second-rower Luis Johnson.

The move sees the 26-year-old return to the game after 11 months out through an injury suffered while featuring for Castleford Tigers in August 2024.

Johnson found the try line once from the second row in 12 appearances across the Super League, Challenge Cup and Championship in 2024, prior to his campaign-ending injury against Warrington Wolves at the Jungle on August 23.

The Yorkshireman began his career at Wire in 2018 and also featured for Hull Kingston Rovers in the top flight, while also turning out for Rochdale Hornets, Widnes Vikings, Dewsbury Rams and Featherstone Rovers in the Betfred Championship. In total, Johnson found the line three times in 52 Super League appearances.

Fresh from his arrival in South Yorkshire, the Dons' newest recruit, Johnson, said: "I've been keeping up with my rehab with Castleford since I left last year, but I'm looking to start playing soon, and Doncaster is the perfect fit for me, so I'm looking forward to it.

"It's been very welcoming. I spoke to the coach, and he's on board with what I want to do, and I'm on board with what he wants to do as well.

"Hopefully I can get a few games and experience what it's like to be here. I'm just really keen to play with the boys because it's been a year, so I'm just very keen.

"The stadium is really impressive, and hopefully there's a good atmosphere in there once I get the chance to actually play.

"I'm definitely looking forward to getting out there."
